Who We Are and What We Do
Naval Ship Management (NSM) is a leading provider of asset management solutions to the Australian maritime sector. Utilising a team of highly skilled professionals strategically located across Australia in conjunction with a robust, agile and scalable international supply chain, NSM provides cost-effective, responsive and customer-focused solutions that optimise the availability and capability of our customers’ critical assets.
Established in 2012, as a Joint Venture between Babcock Pty Ltd and UGL Ltd, we now support assets across the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet - most notably the Anzac Class Frigates as a member of the Warship Asset Management Agreement (WAMA), and the Canberra Class Landing Helicopter Docks (LHD), LHD Landing Craft (LLC) and associated assets as the Asset Class Prime Contractor. Our services include: Engineering Support Services; Maintenance Support Services; Ship Repair, Refit and Refurbishment; Supply Chain Management and Procurement and Logistics.
NSM offers unique opportunities to work in a truly collaborative environment. We work with the very best and highly specialised defence and maritime suppliers across Australia and around the world.
We are committed to the Australian maritime sustainment industry, and more closely, meeting the needs of the Royal Australian Navy. With the Australian Government embarking on several multi-billion dollar maritime investment programs, these are exciting times for the industry.
We embrace a culture of corporate diversity and workplace innovation with a strong focus on safety. Safety is paramount in our industry. We are committed to protecting the safety of our people, clients, supply chain and our communities.
At NSM we recognise that it’s our people who are our greatest asset. We are committed to giving all employees the opportunity to grow their skills, gain valuable experience, develop professionally and work on exciting diverse projects.
Underpinned by strong values around safety, teamwork, courage, respect and accountability, we advance Australia’s maritime sustainment capability through innovation, collaboration, long-term partnerships with local industry and investment in our people.
As we operate in the Defence industry, we recognise that veterans offer unique skills that make them exemplary employees, and in turn, almost 30% of our workforce have previously worked in the Defence Force, either in Australia or internationally.
Our people come from a range of industries with over 30% of our workforce joining us with no prior defence experience, and 40% of our workforce joining us from non-maritime industries. In particular, we employ a large array of talented people from the aviation, construction, transport and mining industries.
We also provide a range of benefits including ongoing professional development, flexible working conditions and competitive remuneration packages.
Our values are integral drivers of our business, built from a foundation of Safety First.
Our Safety First culture underpins all of our activities and is embraced in all our actions. In simple terms, it means providing a safe workplace. As we work in complex environments where risks and hazards are inherent, our approach needs to be both comprehensive and consultative.
