Microsoft Federal serves the U.S. Government (USG), allowing Microsoft to support the growing government business. The organization supports the capabilities and requirements to service USG through direct sales, contracting, and billing with the USG. Microsoft Federal entity will meet obligations of manage contracts with the USG through six business teams and three enablement teams.

The Federal Capacity Analyst is responsible for the performing capacity analysis across all dimensions of Federal capacity needs and providing insights and recommendations to optimize business performance. In this role, you will work alongside our Federal Capacity Planning and Resource Management functions, along with key business leaders to produce and deliver meaningful insights for the Federal business. You will support your business stakeholders to move from plan to execution and contribute to our financial forecasting and execution planning of the business.

Contribute to annual/quarterly demand and supply plans for the Support and Consulting businesses
Contribute to the building of a bottom-up view of Demand and Supply Gaps (Red Pockets) with recommendations for gap closure
Contribute to the deliverables of the Federal Capacity Planning and Management function through activities such as:

Prepare and publish insights, clarify metrics, resolve disconnects and errors
Partner with Federal Leaders and business manager to provide commentary
Deliver Solution Area/Team level business insights on demand and capacity
Support monthly and adhoc demand & capacity analytics requirements
Collaborate with diverse set of stakeholders such as across MS Federal in creation and delivery of Federal capacity insights.


Ideal candidates should have 5+ years of experience in areas related to analysis of services delivery organization with related experience in planning, analytics, finance and operations etc., and should be self-motivated, confident in working with executives and comfortable working in a matrix organization. The candidate need to be able to achieve results through influence across multiple organizations.

Bachelors in business, information technology, Finance, Operations or related field, and/or equivalent experience

Proven stakeholder management skills, especially in cross organizational matrixed teams. US Federal / Public Sector experience is a plus.

Demonstrated business acumen, being able to understand how business program and operations management
links to key business objectives for a services delivery organization
Ability to effectively prioritize and coordinate multiple work streams of activities
Knowledge and understanding of the financial and operational functions of a service delivery organization (i.e., budget, time logging, optimizing cost, escalation processes, invoicing, capacity management)
Ability to develop strong, productive relationships with colleagues and management to meet targeted objectives
An analytical mindset with the ability define metrics, reports, interpret results, and make recommendations on appropriate courses of action
Expert-level Power BI, Excel and other analytical toolsets skills and experience
Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, time management, presentation, and writing skills

The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.

Cloud Screening: Candidates must be able to successfully complete and pass a Microsoft Cloud background screening. Required Cloud Screenings will be administered on a recurring bi-annual basis.
