Responsible for monitoring and testing all aspects of whiskey production from materials to by-products as it relates to meeting Quality Specifications, Housekeeping, compliance with TTB requirements and Brown-Forman quality systems. Provides process data to operators and distillery/QC Management. Support the department and Distillery Quality by ensuring analysis are timely and accurate, audits are thorough and findings are followed up on. Support Quality Control and Jack Daniel’s safety goals by working safely and adhering to all safety protocols.
What You Can Expect
Perform accurate and timely analysis, data entry and interpretation of results: raw materials, production, byproducts and other samples required to monitor the production process. Document and communicate out of specification results to QC and Production management.
Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot and ensure reliability of laboratory equipment.
HOUSEKEEPING AND GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES:
Participate in the Housekeeping Committee as an auditor.
Follow up with stakeholders to ensure corrective actions are being taken to address findings.
Be an active participant in Lab Housekeeping and Cleaning activities.
Conduct Quality System audits.
Develop, Utilize and Implement Quality Documents to support Quality and Housekeeping programs.
Communicate out of specification results to QC and Production management.
Document and communicate any process deviations and report to the Senior QC Specialist and/or Quality Control Manager.
Assist with production quality reports
Willingness to assist with QC Specialist and Operator Training as required.
Collect and prepare production samples for shipment to Brown-Forman R&D for analysis.
Work closely with Distillery and By-Product area operators and management in monitoring, analyzing and reporting on production processes.
Participate in process and product troubleshooting efforts and provide analytical support as requested.

We Are Looking for People Who
Have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Related Science.
Quality related experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Comfortable interacting and troubleshooting in a production environment.
Must be able to work in a hot/cold, noisy work environment, climb steps/walk/stand for extended periods of time.
Must tolerate exposure to alcohol fumes, carbon dioxide and grain dust (corn, rye, malted barley).
Possess physical capabilities to safely satisfy work requirements within industrial work settings. Includes the expectations of bending and lifting heavy objects (50+lbs).
Ability to work on any shift as required, weekends and holidays and call-ins as needed to support a 24 hours, 365 day operation.
Willingness to adjust work schedule to meet production demands.
Willingness to be on call on a rotating basis.
Ability to comply with all safety requirements, attend required training and wear personal protective equipment where required.
Conform to and help train other employees in all hygiene and cleaning requirements as detailed in the Brown-Forman Quality Standards Manuals.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft and Google software.
Demonstrated ability to conduct analytical testing by following test methods and accurately interpreting results.
Demonstrated ability to work with, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment. For example: Densitometer, GC, HPLC, GAC and NIR.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with peers, operators and production management.
What You Can Add to the Team
Experience beverage or food industry.
At 2 years coursework of chemistry if not a Chemistry major.
Professional certifications related to Quality.
Knowledge of TTB regulations as they relate to the manufacture of alcoholic beverages.
Demonstrated knowledge of Statistical Process Control.
