We are building the Intelligent Conversation and Communications Cloud (IC3). We power Microsoft’s first-party real-time conversation products, notably Skype and Teams with many millions of users, by providing reliable and high-quality audio and video calling, meetings, and chat services that work every time, from anywhere, on any device. The Data Platform team is looking for an experienced Software Engineering manager to build the next generation high-scale data platform.



  • Build and lead a team of Engineers who design, write, ship, and motivate the creation of data products to increase reliability, quality and improved customer experiences

  • Have 5+ years of software design and development experience
  • At least 3+ years experiences of being a people manager
  • Have proven track record of forming, mentoring and growing strong engineering teams
  • Have demonstrable experience in architecting and driving implementation of large-scale services or experiences spanning, multiple systems and groups
  • Ability to stand up databases in the cloud, ingest data, and run queries
  • Understanding of Azure database, orchestration, and reporting products, their uses, and tradeoffs
  • Experience with ingesting and processing different types of service and usage data and telemetry
  • Understanding of data classification models in privacy and security contexts, for example GDPR
  • Understanding of modern services security models and their implementation
