The Storage and File Systems team is part of the Azure Edge + Platform Core OS Base team. We deliver storage solution for Windows, Azure, IoT and new devices that Microsoft and our industry partners ship in the future. This area involves tough challenges and provides tremendous upside opportunities including leveraging the reduced size, portability and increased functionality of new storage devices, improved software platform infrastructure, emerging protocol standards, seamless integration of local and cloud storage and development of solutions to new content usage paradigms.


The work involves building system software that manages storage devices on systems running Windows. The software can range from building services managing storage devices in Azure; advancing Windows API for storage; onboarding new storage standards and devices to the Windows ecosystem; improving the debuggability support of Windows. You will design, code features, tests and validation tools and work closely with teams in Windows, Azure or our Silicon and OEM partners to deliver best in class reliability, performance and user experience for everything around storage.


Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience developing software in C, C++ or C#.
  • 3+ years of experience developing production quality, scalable software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/MS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related fields
  • Interest in system programming
  • Solid analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills
  • Strong design skills and a working knowledge of systems programming
  • Welcomes the opportunity to work on a broad variety of issues throughout the entire product.
  • Strong communication and cross team collaboration skills
  • Experience with operating system kernel components, file systems, I/O subsystems, device drivers, storage health or cloud storage
