The charter of the Commercial Sales and Marketing Business Insights team is to “Provide accurate, actionable and intelligent Insights to 35000+ Microsoft Sellers, Managers and Leaders to power informed decisions, drive predictability and transform the Rhythm of Connections”. By connecting diverse data points to draw a complete picture of the current state of the business in near real time, we enable faster, better-informed decision-making capabilities that can be delivered at the right time to the right user. This helps Microsoft's Commercial Sales and Marketing teams to set the direction, establish clear metrics, track performance, enable recurring dialogues (ROCs), incentivize desired behaviors, and helps managers continuously coach to improve outcomes. The combination of reporting, enablement, and coaching help deliver enormous impact quickly by enabling faster, better-informed business decisions.
The key product that this team uses to surface the reports and insights is called MSX Insights (Microsoft Sales Experience Insights) which has over 400+ reports related to various aspects of commercial sales business including pipeline, consumption, forecast and renewal management. It is one of the most widely used tools with >17k MAU (monthly active users). The business insights team partners closely with various other organizations in Microsoft to prioritize and deliver the reporting and insights that help them drive their business and deliver growth for Microsoft.
PMs in this team are expected to work closely with all the business stakeholders including GSMO (Global Sales and Marketing Organization), WCB (Worldwide Commercial Business) and Area BSOs (Area Business Sales Operations) in addition to the end users to understand and prioritize the requirements and work with Software engineers, researchers, designers and data science teams to build the right analytics and insights to meet the requirements and drive continuous improvements based on telemetry and user feedback.
- A BS in a technical discipline (CS, CompE, EE, Math, IS) or 4 additional years of industry experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of previous technical program management or engineering experience required.
- Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience with SQL, Power BI or related data visualization tools
Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and statistical concepts.
- Good understanding of enterprise grade applications in terms of resilience, scale.
- Ability to work independently and ramp-up to new areas quickly.
- Excellent communication skills and desire to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies
- Metrics and data focused.
- Passion for solving Customer Problems.
