About the job

An exciting opportunity exists to share your communications expertise, particularly in social media, in this newly created role. If you enjoy being part of a dynamic environment and would enjoy the challenge of delivering a communications and social media strategy across various channels and interesting topics, then come join Alcoa’s Corporate Affairs team.

Reporting into the Communications Manager, you will support the development and delivery of communication activities that will protect and enhance Alcoa’s reputation and social licence. In this role, your key purpose will be:

  • Creating content for Alcoa’s social media channels including text, images, videos, and graphics in collaboration with the broader Corporate Affairs team.

  • Managing content approvals, scheduling, promotions, monitoring, issue management, and reporting.

  • Staying up to date on trends and changes in the social media landscape to identify and inform on improvement opportunities.

  • Supporting with other brand and communication activities as required including photography, video production, website, intranet, event management and media relations.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Media, or related field.

  • Experience within a similar communications role and in particular social media.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a creative vision for content creation.

  • An ability to plan, manage and balance multiple projects and priorities would be desirable.

  • Knowledge of the resources sector and Alcoa’s geographical and socio-political setting in WA would be advantageous along with exposure to risk and issues management.

  • Visual imagery experience and familiar with various tools including the MS Office Suite.

  • A current WA Driver’s License with flexibility to occasionally travel to other locations when required.
