About the job

We are looking for a motivated professional to join our Huntly Mine team as the Community Relations Advisor. Working Monday to Friday each week with a monthly Leisure Day, this is a great opportunity to work locally and make a difference within the community!

Reporting to the Huntly Bauxite Mine Manager, you will be working with the site Lead Team, WA Mining team and Australian Corporate Affairs to protect and enhance the business social licence and reputation primarily in the communities around the operations (Dwellingup, Jarrahdale, Keysbrook and North Dandalup).

Some of your principal activities will include:

  • Community and stakeholder engagement involving meeting with groups/individuals. planning, hosting, and attending events

  • Identifying and implementing community investment partnerships

  • Coordination of internal communications to promote employee engagement

  • Accountability for neighbour relations and managing issues impacting on reputation

  • Informing the lead team of any key issues or relevant community projects being sponsored by local, state and federal government agencies

  • Overseeing and recognising employee involvement in engagement activities relating to local communities

  • Managing and overseeing formal community consultation processes associated with the Mine Plan

This is a varied role where you will have a strong presence in the community, enabling greater opportunity for communities to engage with us and obtain valued information and feedback for Alcoa.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, social sciences, communications, or a similar discipline

  • Previous experience in community and stakeholder engagement

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of the Peel region of WA and in particular the communities of Dwellingup, Jarrahdale, Keysbrook, North Dandalup and Pinjarra would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of the bauxite-alumina-aluminium industry and the Alcoa’s geographical and socio-political setting in WA would be advantageous

  • Current WA Drivers’ Licence
