We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) professional to join the Ballarat Operations Team. This position will play an important role in the Ballarat Infrastructure Upgrade (Construction Phase) of the project.

You will be responsible for working with our leaders to help drive cultural change and ensure EHS is front of mind and risks are appropriately managed across the Project.

Key Responsibilities for This Role Include:

  • Ensure EHS Risk Assessment is done & appropriate measures to control risks are defined for the Project sites and work groups.
  • Prepare, implement and maintain emergency plans at Project level.
  • Make sure activities of sub-contractors are managed with respect to EHS, especially where interfaces are involved with other contractors or operational areas.
  • Ensure that Alstom EHS standards and tools (AZDP, TOPE, and Transport Key processes) are deployed at Project level.
  • Monitor compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory, contractual and company requirements & propose actions to correct any gap.
  • Work with business leaders to influence and adjust EHS culture where necessary.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Includes:

  • Relevant qualifications in a related discipline (e.g. Diploma in EHS, Bachelor Degree or similar)
  • Strong working knowledge of local legal requirements, especially as it relates to Rail Safety.
  • Initiative, drive and resilience, with the ability to influence people at all levels within the project.
  • Previous experience working within the rail industry or similar safety critical environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safe working systems, rules and procedures.
  • Ability to lead and motivate people to get the desired result.

This role will initialy be a 18 month fixed task contract with strong possitibilities to being extended or going permanent and will be located in Ballarat, fulltime. It is a great opportunity for an EHS professional to join the Alstom team with ongoing career development and training.
