The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Technical Officer – E & I to join our Operations and Maintenance team FIFO to Moomba on a fulltime basis.

Reporting to the Team Leader – Far West QLD, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of high pressure natural gas pipeline assets. This is a FIFO position flying out of Adelaide working a 15 days on and 13 days off roster.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise and carry out routine and non-routine maintenance for pipeline systems, compressor stations, meter stations, pressure reduction facilities, scraper stations etc.
  • Install, commission, test, calibrate, monitor, fault find and diagnose, repair, maintain, overhaul and service simple to complex process control, maintain mechanical plant and equipment to enhance equipment reliability and performance
  • Achieve maintenance and reliability work objectives by carrying out all maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Undertake problem solving in the rectification of system faults, utilising historical data and complex testing equipment to diagnose and formulate solutions to technical issues recommending cost effective system and predicative and proactive maintenance improvements
  • Provide reliable data, equipment histories and reports for analysis and review, providing accurate and effective documentation for APA’s programmed and proactive maintenance programs

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in oil & gas, mining, utilities or heavy industry related trade involving the technical operation, maintenance of plant equipment and rotating equipment.
  • Electrical Trade qualification is essential, Instrumentation and Hazardous area qualifications will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge of PLC’s / RTU’s, pressures, flows, gas chromatography, gas turbines and distribution cause and effect and basic instrumentation an advantage.
  • Able to competently use relevant computer applications to analyse data and records.
  • Good interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels of the organisation.

About the Team


Due to internal growth, this a rare opportunity to join the Operations and Maintenance team. Located in Moomba, this group comprises of a small team who work across geographically wide area from Moomba to Ballera and on occasions in other locations within QLD and NSW. The crew is made up of FIFO multidiscipline experienced Technicians and are excited to welcome a new person into their team.
