The Role

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Project Technical Officer to join our Infrastructure Protection and Planning team in our Brisbane office on a 12 month fixed term contract.

Reporting to the Corridor Protection Lead, you will be responsible for contributing to the protection of APA Group infrastructure assets under the direction of APA Project Development Engineer, by liaising with third parties involved in complex, cost recoverable projects, such as road and rail projects, and land subdivision. The Project Technical Officer is a key point of contact with the project proponent, ensuring APA authorisation and supervision are co-ordinated and timely, and works proceed safely in accordance with all APA requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of responses to third party project works and encroachment requests
  • Undertake liaison with third parties needing to work near APA assets, such as construction contractors, development companies, State agencies, other utilities, and their contractors, ensuring they understand APA processes and requirements and have all the relevant information
  • Work closely with APA Project Development Engineers to support progress of the project through timely authorisation and supervision of works, and other support roles as directed.
  • Provide safety leadership by proactively promoting and co-ordinating third party awareness activities for the project proponent and their work crews and contractors.

About You:

  • Advanced stakeholder liaison, negotiation and influencing skills; including the ability to represent APA effectively with external stakeholders, and develop a strong working relationship while also enforcing APA requirements
  • Ability to effectively manage a number of tasks concurrently, prioritising effectively, and setting clear and realistic timeframes expectations for the project proponent
  • Ability to deal constructively with stakeholders, communicating effectively, and ensuring required support is provided in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of construction methodology and practices, including construction machinery and equipment used in civil works and utilities maintenance
