The Opportunity

We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Head of Corporate and Commercial to join our Information Technology team on a Permanent Full Time basis.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will play a key role in to managing the technology needs of the Finance, Procurement, Risk, Treasury, the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) and other like functions within APA.

The objective of the role is to support an increased demand for modern technology driven change and support the goals of stakeholders under the banner of a strategic Technology roadmap. The role focus is to deliver business aligned outcomes through evolving technology that supports an agreed definition of business success. This position sits on the senior IT leadership team and it is expected to be an active partner and contributor to the imperatives and challenges of APA and the IT team

The location for this role is flexible and hybrid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading, supporting and enabling a team of 22 FTE with 6 direct reports.
  • Being accountable for building a technology focused plan for business and IT success for the Corporate and Commercial departments of APA and aligning resources to successfully execute within it
  • Being accountable for partnering within designated business areas to prioritise and develop business IT initiatives and product strategies to deliver business outcomes
  • Developing and implementing a business aligned technology strategy to guide the execution plan for the Corporate and Commercial business
  • Providing vision, leadership and governance to the Corporate and Commercial IT Domain team
  • Designing, delivering and maintaining business unit aligned Domain technology portfolio including roadmaps, an ongoing product release strategy, product planning and requisite prioritisation
  • Being accountable for developing and managing the full lifecycle IT system and capability strategies
  • Being accountable for the identification of areas for growth and to create strategic product and UX strategies
  • Facilitating communication and reporting to the Executive and leadership teams
  • Being accountable for the ownership of resource planning and mapping across initiatives
  • Delivering and operationalising programs and projects
  • Continuous Improvement: developing and maintaining an understanding of the product, market, and competition; actively exploring capabilities deployed by other high-performing organisations; being accountable for the design and delivery of the important planning milestones and for setting business centric KPI’s for IT
  • Financial Management: financial accountability of team and squad investment against value outcome creation; advising and counselling the Chief Information Officer on their competitive or financial impact
  • Stakeholder Engagement: establishing and maintaining value-based stakeholder and strategic supplier relationships which meet key business requirements

Your background

  • Extensive experience years, in a senior technology leadership role with responsibility for multiple delivery teams (a talent for coaching and developing others, highly capable inspirational leadership and passionate about people)
  • Demonstrated success as a domain manager and/or program manager with nationally distributed teams
  • Senior level communication and stakeholder management skills (ability to influence with flair in crafting quality strategic stories, narratives and journey maps)
  • Superior commercial acumen and detail focus, comfortable and confident with deploying blended funding models for capital and operational expenditure
  • Ability to conduct and contribute to effective strategic planning processes
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in key areas of agile software delivery, data platform development and public cloud adoption
  • Current best practice working knowledge of IT methodologies, reference models and Technology standards
  • Has a biased preference for lean approaches with an agile mindset
  • Experienced in managing SaaS release strategies on products such as Workday, SAP, Oracle Cloud etc.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such Power BI in an enterprise environment
  • Possesses a robust understanding of various businesses models and industries to use as reference points
  • Ability to succeed in fast paced, high-growth environments and able to deliver at pace
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement through the implementation of change across business processes, systems and people
  • Self-Organising and Motivated: a confident decision maker with a high degree of autonomy and independent decision- making capability who takes pride and full accountability for their own work and the work of their team, has experience in managing stakeholders from and across multiple teams, experience in operationalising processes at scale and a proven track record of managing Product Roadmaps, and incremental Customer, Business and Technology benefits
