We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Cloud Engineer – Security to join our Security & Cloud Services team and help us safeguard the future of our clients and our business.
About the Role
As a Senior Cloud Engineer – Security, you’ll be a hands-on technical expert, implementing, maintaining, and optimising security technologies across the Aurion Cloud Platform. You’ll bridge the gap between engineering and cybersecurity operations, ensuring our systems are resilient, compliant, and aligned with security best practices. You’ll also provide technical guidance to engineering and security teams, supporting our cyber defence strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Design secure systems and networks, implement firewalls, VPNs, endpoint protection, and integrate security into cloud and DevOps environments.
Monitor SIEM alerts, investigate suspicious activity, and create/tune detection rules.
Analyse vulnerability scans, coordinate patching schedules, and track remediation progress.
Assist in triaging and investigating incidents, support containment and recovery, and document findings.
Develop scripts to automate security tasks, build integrations between tools, and maintain infrastructure-as-code for security controls.
Provide evidence for audits, implement technical controls, and maintain system hardening baselines.
Collaborate with DevOps, Cloud, and other teams, participate in threat modelling, and advocate for secure coding practices.
Create and maintain technical documentation, Ops Manuals, SOPs, Run Books, and security reporting.
Skills and Experience
Essential
5+ years in technical engineering roles with a security focus.
Proficiency in managing security platforms (e.g., CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Splunk, Palo Alto, Cisco).
Advanced knowledge of Windows, Linux, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
Familiarity with vulnerability management and remediation workflows.
Strong understanding of networking protocols, firewalls, and endpoint protection.
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently.
Advanced documentation and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to plan and implement solutions for complex requirements or projects.
Technical leadership experience with small teams.
Experience in structured change management environments.
Knowledge of compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, ISM, PSPF, E8, CIS).
Certifications in AWS.
Desirable
Exposure to cloud-native security tools and architectures.
Familiarity with threat intelligence platforms and integration.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
Certifications such as CompTIA CySA+, GCIA, GCIH, or vendor-specific (e.g., Palo Alto PCNSA, Cisco CCNP Security).
