About You

The Systems Accountant will play a key role within the Finance Team at Barwon Water and we are seeking a collaborative and analytical finance professional to join the team on a 12-month basis. You will have a strong focus on accounting systems and technology, utilising software to develop reports and budgets for vital capital expenditure.

As someone who thrives on continual improvement, you will seek efficiencies and enhancements through your everyday work and your dynamic personality will engage with others across the broader Finance team. You are inquisitive and seek practical solutions that will deliver the best outcomes for Barwon Water.

You will be a natural and comfortable communicator who can influence others, and provide financial support for stakeholders across the business. Your practical accounting experience will be underpinned by your qualifications in finance / commerce and ongoing professional development.

About the Role

A vital opportunity has become available that will support the managing and development of the finance system (Technology One). Responsibilities will include ongoing enhancements and updates to the system and supporting the transition to SaaS and Ci Anywhere, developing reporting capability, and ensuring complex capital expenditure program is recorded accurately in the system.

The Systems Accountant is an important cog in enabling major projects run to budget; the work will allow for Barwon Water’s Strategy 2030 to come to life.

The role will work closely with key stakeholders across the business to help improve ongoing forecasting processes and will work closely with the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office to develop reports.

Requiring a critical eye for detail, the role will assist in preparing budgets, external stakeholder reports and critically, our pricing submission performance monitoring. This role is key for the continual improvement of our Finance team and systems and will require confidence when managing stakeholders.
