About the Role

Reporting to the Port Production Training & Compliance Superintendent, the Specialist Trainer - Production will be responsible for executing the delivery of training plans.

In this capacity, you will be actively involved in ensuring the relevance, quality and improvement of all resource material in addition to monitoring and increasing the competency of all personnel.

Key responsibilities within this role will include:

  • Demonstrate commitment and conformance to the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Liaise with Production teams including Execution, Shipping, Laboratory, Services, Coordination, and the leadership team on Operator training required.
  • Ensure technical training is implemented as planned.
  • In-field verification of competencies
  • Maintain a training matrix for personnel.
  • Ensure training materials are developed and updated in line with WAIO standards.
  • Ensure adequately skilled operators are available across all shifts.
  • Ensure training activities comply with the relevant Safe Work Procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain the Production Risk Register data base.
  • Maintain the LMS training systems relevant to the Port.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing initiatives that contribute value to the business.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will be a collaborative, performance focused and output driven individual with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Hold the minimum level Nationally Recognised skill set or Certification in assessing:
  • Enterprise Assessor Skill Set (minimum requirement) or,
  • Assessor Skill set or,
  • Certificate IV for Training and Assessing or,
  • Higher level qualification in adult education
  • Training and Assessing Certificate IV TAE40116 preferred, TAE40110 is a minimum to be considered for this role or be willing to work towards progressing this qualification.
  • Valid Australian C class driver’s license.

In addition, you will possess highly developed written and verbal communication skills complimented with the following demonstrated experience:

  • Experience in fixed plant operations including Car Dumpers, Ship Loaders, Sample Stations, Reclaimers & Stackers.
  • Previous trainer/assessor experience highly desirable.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proven track record of safety management.

Location

In this residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities.

The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife. Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. In this position you will be provided with a rental accommodation in accordance with BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s Housing policy.

You will be working on Lifestyle Roster, 5on 5off / 4on 5off / 5on 4off.
