About the Role

We are currently looking for Permanent HV Electricians at our Western Australia Iron Ore Mine Sites. Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor the role will require the safe operation of the BHP Port Hedland transmission and distribution systems for high and low voltage. Role will include the maintenance, testing, commissioning and breakdown recovery of all parts of BHP Port transmission and distribution systems.

Duties include:

  • Plant Maintenance and testing of switchgear, cabling and transformers
  • Protection relay secondary injection and protection scheme testing
  • HV Installation & Commissioning
  • Perform routine maintenance & breakdowns on open cut heavy mining equipment
  • Fault-finding and diagnosing
  • Raising notifications and work orders
  • Preparing and executing high voltage switching programs and isolations
  • Ensure all procedures are followed to maintain safety standards
  • Contribute to ongoing team and self-development

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

  • Current WA Electrical Licence
  • High Voltage Switched Ticket
  • High Risk Licence (EWP, Confined Space, Forklift, Dogging and Rigging)
  • Proven experience in PLC systems and control communication systems
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Previous experience in high voltage electrical maintenance in mining, industrial or utilities sectors
  • Demonstrated fault-finding and diagnostic experience
  • A strong commitment to safety
