About the Role

The role of Operational Readiness Manager requires a dynamic change /project management professional who can effectively and collaboratively deliver a major program of work and translate strategy into operational execution.

Reporting to the General Manager Port, in this incredibly impactful position, you will be responsible for safely and sustainably leading teams focussed on the necessary systems, processes and organisational capabilities required to handover, operate and maintain a new asset.

This integral role will focus on leading all aspects of the operational readiness and planning strategy, ensuring operational and functional excellence whilst building critical partnerships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.

Additional key responsibilities will include:

  • Modelling an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Development and formalisation of future operating concepts
  • Designing, validating and overseeing
  • Safe-working and operational procedure changes
  • Maintenance and support changes across multiple business units
  • Change activities to ensure all project outcomes and solutions are implemented correctly
  • Development and rollout of relevant training packages
  • Reviewing and endorsing Program engineering and configuration changes
  • Engagement with key external regulators

About You

To be successful in this role, you are a delivery focused professional with the skills and desire to drive and deliver change initiatives through your leadership, engagement and collaboration.

In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualified ideally in engineering or finance
  • Contractor Management expertise
  • Demonstrated success in leading and coaching teams to achieve results
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex and challenging program of works
  • A background in operational or maintenance management
  • Extensive operational readiness and change management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to build meaningful partnerships with diverse stakeholders


In this residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities.

The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife. Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park
