About the Role

Nickel West is one of the most sustainable nickel producers in the world and the world's leading nickel supplier to the battery metals market. Our nickel is essential to a decarbonising world and Nickel West has a global advantage in the sustainable production of nickel.

Reporting to the Drafting Coordinator this role provides Specialist Electrical Drafting Support for our Nickel West; Kwinana operation whilst coordinating the work of the Electrical Drafting Designers to ensure the engineering information, document control and drafting output is of the highest standard.

Based at Kwinana Monday-Friday; you will enjoy the benefits of being on site during the day and being at home every night.

You will help drive with the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare and check drawings of designs relating to plant equipment, services or other facilities or structures.
  • Complete detailed electrical design from sketches and P&ID’s under direction from project engineers.
  • Review design and advise on technical drafting difficulties or governance compliance requirements as appropriate.
  • Review designs to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes aligned with the appropriate codes of practise and relevant standards.
  • Engage with engineers and other stakeholders regarding progress, potential risks to schedules and budgets.
  • Regular field investigations will be required to complete project and as-building tasks.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (Diploma or higher) OR
  • Tertiary qualification in Drafting (Diploma or higher) plus Electrical Trade Qualification
  • Strong experience with Bentley Microstation.
  • Experience in document control processes
  • Understanding of Fixed Plant electrical systems, with refining, chemical plant, and/or hazardous area knowledge highly regarded.
  • Understanding of Australian and International design standards and guidelines.
  • The ability to produce professional Engineering drawings to company drafting standard.
  • Excellent communication skills and computer literacy
