We are actively seeking the talents of an experienced and skilled Superintendent Mine Services to join the Jimblebar Mining Production team.

Reporting to Manager Mining Production, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing leadership, support and mentoring for the mine services team
  • Ensuring Mine Development activity is completed safely, on-time and with minimal re-work. This includes managing compliance against short, medium and long-term plans and preparation remediation plans as required
  • Managing value add projects in line with business plans, ensuring costs are within the approved expenditure levels and projects meet desired outcomes
  • Responsible for the Condition and Performance of the Haulage Network.
  • Working as part of a strong, inter-disciplinary team operating across key aspects of the business
  • Communicating with other technical and operational staff members and teams to ensure optimal designs are executed to ensure long term productivity of the Mine

About You

We have a strong focus on finding individuals with the right values, leadership capability, and communication skills. Your demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring multidisciplinary teams in a complex operational environment will be key to your success in this role.

Demonstrated expertise across mine planning or mine services complimented with experience within large-scale open cut mining is essential. Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills will also be critical in ensuring you build effective collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across the business.

You will have access to technology that will enable you to work flexibly, which is key to BHP’s success in addressing the requirements of a diverse workforce.

In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated success working within a similar operationally focused position
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology or equivalent is preferred but not essential
  • A proven track record when it comes to safety management
  • The ability to influence and inspire others to achieve results
  • Demonstrated success building cohesive and inclusive teams
  • Strong communication skills and a track record of achieving results
  • Minimum C Class unrestricted licence essential


You will be based at our ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a 4/3,5/2,4/3,9/5 fly-in fly-out roster from Perth. Jimblebar is an open-cut pit iron ore mine approximately 40km east of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Jimblebar was BHP’s first fully autonomous haul truck fleet, which makes the site a safe, productive operation with opportunities for our people to gain new skills.

Our team at Jimblebar take pride in being part of an inclusive and high performing operation. Each year, the Jimblebar mine produces up to 70M tonnes of high grade product, and in FY2021, Jimblebar achieved record production!

The outstanding facilities at the modern FIFO village of Warrawandu include a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 4G wireless internet, ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator, and air-conditioning. Jimblebar also offers a regional flight to and from Busselton for its FIFO team members.
