About the Role
This role provides an exciting opportunity to provide HSE leadership and support to the Metals Exploration (MEX) Australasia team. Reporting to the Manager Health, Safety and Environment for Metals Exploration you will be fundamental in supporting operational exploration activities in Australia and regional generative and commercial activities through the provision of technical HSE advice and support of the MEX growth agenda.
You will provide leadership and direction in the delivery of HSE fundamentals and strategic improvement initiatives for MEX Australasia and be at the forefront of the developing regional approach and ensuring that HSE systems, processes and resourcing align with regional needs. You will have the opportunity to select and build your team as activities in the region expand.
Based in Perth or Adelaide, Australia; regular travel within Australia, and eventually across the region will be required to enable effective relationships with your team and customers. You will have the opportunity to build capability and capacity within HSE through the development, coaching and alignment of the MEX Australasia team, and over time with the MEX Australasia HSE team members to deliver excellence in HSE services.

In this role you will
- Support development and implementation of the MEX HSE Strategy and plan at a Regional and Country level in collaboration with Operational and Functional partners;
- Support regional generative and commercial activities, providing technical HSE input into opportunity assessment and ongoing assurance of third party ventures
- Support regional growth through engagement with pipeline development, identifying key HSE needs to support growth
- Recruit, develop and lead a strong capable team across the region to deliver effective HSE services to your customers
- Establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Define and drive effectiveness and standardisation of processes in partnership with your peers across the Metals Exploration;
- Support the delivery of MEX and Global HSE Strategy and key Asset HSE priorities;
- Build HSE capability and capacity within the Regional team through coaching, mentoring and the provision of advice on HSE strategy, system and procedures;
You will be an experienced HSE professional with previous experience in exploration, mining or similar resources industry. You may be new to people leadership but have a passion for developing others through coaching, mentoring, rewarding and guiding.
You will have strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills with a demonstrated capability to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and community groups.
Your well developed and professional technical expertise will stem from an influenced practice in the HSE area and a supporting tertiary degree in a health, safety, environment or related field. You will have detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of HSE related risks.
Experience in working in the Australasia region would be well regarded.
