About the Role

The Mine Geology Department of BHP Western Australia Iron Ore is looking for a Senior Geologist to join the Tactical Modelling team.

Reporting to the Superintendent of Tactical Modelling, you will join a committed team responsible for the update and delivery of monthly to quarterly geological models and grade control ready estimates used to inform the short to medium term mine plans.

The role is a Perth based role working flexibly between the Perth office and home. Occasional site visits maybe needed but these will be short and could be managed as day trips.

About You

The successful candidate will be a leading figure in the Tactical Modelling team and as such must be both technically capable and display leadership skills.

  • Thorough understanding and proven capability in geological / structural modelling and grade control modelling / resource estimation
  • Proven capability using industry standard mining applications including Vulcan and Leapfrog
  • Competent understanding of reconciliation
  • Proficient in data analysis, adaptive leadership, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator of geological uncertainty, risk and opportunity
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geoscience or similar
