About the Role
BHP is in search of a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, who can play a global role in our Resource Centre of Excellence (RCOE) team. Brisbane based but open to other locations for the right candidate, such as Perth or Adelaide with flexible work arrangements available. Occasional site travel to America, Canada and Chile.
You will report to the Practice Lead Global Geotechnical of the RCoE. You will provide geotechnical advisory and assurance across the business, and consitrbuting to develop a BHP geotechnical community and lead technical initiatives.
The key tasks for the role include:
- Identification of gaps and implementation of the Global Geotechnical Standard
- Provide technical support to the Assets across the business
- Support the second line of defence for P1 Geotechnical Stability group risk
- Implementation of technical initiatives on predictive monitoring systems for surface mining
- Mining, geological, civil engineer or mining related professional
- Master degree or PhD in Geomechanics or equivalent is preferred
- Demonstrated mine geotechnical experience
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Safety Focussed
