Caval Ridge Mine is owned and operated by BMA and is a large scale open cut coal operation, producing more than 10Mtpa of hard coking coal as a complex along with Peak Downs Mine. Caval Ridge has an opportunity for Pump Crew Supervisors to join our team, based in the Production Coal Department.

About the Role

As a crucial part of our mining production team, you will utilise your superior people management, strong decision making skills and extensive mining experience to lead the pumping and dewatering team at our Caval Ridge Mine. Your main focus will be to provide a safe working environment that helps to enable the mine plan.

The roles are based at Caval Ridge Mine in Central Queensland working on a 7 days on 7 days off shift roster (Dayshift only).

Reporting to the Mine Services Superintendent, in this role you will:

  • Have an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key production supervisors, coordinators and superintendents on site,
  • Safely execute pumping and dewatering activities including the management of people and equipment;
  • Lead, coach, motivate and mentor a crew of diverse multi-skilled operators into a high performing team;
  • Identify improvement opportunities and work collaboratively with other departments to ensure safety, efficiency and production is maximized.

About You

Your proven ability to motivate and manage teams is essential to your success in this role. Supervisory experience within a civil or mining environment is desirable, as is exposure to large pumping installations, open cut pit dewatering, water management and technical pumping theory.

You will utilise your ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities, strong decision-making skills and your ability to stay calm under pressure in order to achieve the best outcome for your crew and production.

You will also be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and able to use your relationship building and negotiation skills in order to influence others and hold them to account.

In addition the ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 5 Years open cut experience with pumping water
  • Poly welding qualifications and experience will be highly regarded
  • Experience in a Leadership role in the mining sector
