The Olympic Dam orebody is a truly world class IOCG deposit. The underground mine and integrated processing facility produces copper, uranium, gold and silver. The Olympic Dam operation has a combination of FIFO and residential workforce, supported by the Roxby Downs township.
Olympic Dam has a fully integrated metallurgical complex with a grinding and concentrating circuit, a hydrometallurgical plant incorporating solvent extraction circuits for copper and uranium, a copper smelter, a copper refinery and a recovery circuit for precious metals. Our geological products underpin our understanding of the valuable minerals, gangue minerals and deleterious elements, knowledge of which is critical for our production processes.
About the Role
As part of the Geoscience function, the Resource Geologist supports the Superintendent Resource Geology, other Planning & Technical departments and ultimately the safe operation of Olympic Dam through delivery of exceptional estimation modelling products.
In this role you will:
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver resource modelling products and documentation
- Ensure products are valid, fit-for-purpose, and reflect the necessary geoscience inputs.
- Support procedure and workflow improvements that underpin product delivery
- Support study/evaluation of new deposits
- Travel approximately 3 days per month to site, or as required
With a tertiary degree in geoscience, the successful candidate will have:
- An ability to review 3D geological models
- Data analysis skills
- Working knowledge of industry modelling software.
- The ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders
