About the Role

BHP is expanding its use of cutting-edge mining technology such that provide autonomation, fleet management, operator safety and improved data transmission. To achieve this, we need a team of engineers to identify, acquire and deploy autonomous equipment technology to improve productivity, increase safety and reduce environmental impact. We are seeking engineers who would like to work on automating our fleet of equipment and delivering data and safety technology. We understand there are not many candidates with mining systems experience, so we are seeking people from within mining or other industries who have the right qualifications and motivation that want to grow their career in mining.

Reporting directly into the Manager Mining Systems, this role will identify and understand business problems that technology can address and how it links to our mines safety and production You will employ a Systems Engineering approach to work in a project environment, with our suppliers, to plan and deliver complex systems using our internal methodology.

Duties to include:

  • Define and help acquire cost effective, operable and supportable mining systems.
  • Deliver mining systems through standardisation, replication and re-use of prior work.
  • Deliver and own the sub-systems requirements and support development, installation, verification, commissioning and validation of systems.
  • Deliver execution artefacts to support deployment on site.
  • Adhere to and help improve System Engineering processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the application of System Safety to equipment automation.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics) mandatory
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to work within cross-functional and multidiscipline teams
  • A strong interest to shape your career with Automation
  • Happy to travel from time to time
