Port Location

This opportunity based at the Port at Port Hedland, home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia is being offered on a residential basis working a 8 / 6, 7 / 7 roster. In addition, other benefits include generous allowances, an attractive share scheme, annual salary reviews and a short-term incentive bonus. You will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland.

About the Role

We have a current opportunity for a Team Leader to join us working an inclusive team environment within the Shift Maintenance Department at Finucane Island. The expectation is that you will be a skilled communicator with proven people management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

You’ll contribute extensively to the effective day to day operations and will be an innovative thinker with a strong head for business and budget management, experience in a similar role is essential we are looking for a people leader who considers the big picture and bring their perspective to our operations. Conducting all task in safest manner possible in line with BHP Charter Values, BHP Policies/ Procedures, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.

Reporting to the Shift Maintenance Supervisor, within the Finucane Island team your duties will include:

  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of Catastrophic Risk Management (CRM) and ensure controls are in place, including the verification of all Safe Work Procedures
  • As a S26 statutory Appointed Person, you are required to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Mines Safety Inspection Regulations in accordance with your appointment
  • Ensure operational discipline in 1SAP Work Management practices.
  • Assist in delivering planned maintenance to drive a safe and reliable plant
  • Continuous improvement of systems and processes are core priorities to enable effectiveness and efficiency
  • Coach and mentor team members to deliver on plan and build a high performing team
  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development

About You

Our successful candidate will have the following:

  • Electrical Trade qualification is a requirement
  • Have a proven track record of safety management
  • Working knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Have previous experience leading a small team
  • S26 Electrical statutory Appointment, experience or have the ability to obtain
  • Has great communication and relationship management skills
  • Has a high skill level in 1SAP Work Management processes, Microsoft Suites
  • Minimum of C class manual driver’s license
