About the role

This role is a key member of the team that will plan and deliver the new terminal precinct at Brisbane Airport, a substantial program of works, known as Future BNE. The works being delivered include a new passenger terminal, landside and airside infrastructure to support the new terminal and upgrades to trunk utilities. Reporting to the Program Director, in this role you will be responsible for client-side activities relating to the oversight and management of project controls and systems for the delivery of this infrastructure.

This will entail the management of the quality and compliance of systems and processes related to the delivery of BAC’s major infrastructure project, ensuring systems and regulatory compliance of the delivered works by the consultants and contractors in accordance with the Contract Conditions and Specifications, throughout the planning, design and delivery phases of the project.

Key responsibilities

    Manage the ongoing maturity development of the project controls systems, processes and tools, and interfacing with the programme reporting needs.
    • Oversee the project controls team adherence to the project controls management plan(s), quality and accuracy of reporting.
    • Providing the Program Director and Planning & Design Director accurate and timely reports on design progress, risks and issues, and further proposing risk mitigations or issues resolutions.
    • Manages the day to day activities and priorities of the Project Controls team including:
      • Project cost management and reporting
      • Work stream planning including program preparation, analysis and reporting, and resource utilisation and optimisation
      • Risk management and reporting
      • Digital Engineering support to the Future BNE team in the design and delivery of the project
      • Assistance to the project teams in obtaining necessary statutory approvals
      • WHS, including safety in design (as required) compliance and leadership
      • Document management and control, in accordance with BAC standards
      • Change management
      • Legal services
    • Facilitate and/or provide monthly reporting on the functions above as well as portfolio project reporting to provide recommendations for optimisation and risk management.
    • Establish processes and carry out assurance activities to validate the quality of data utilised by the Future BNE team in carrying out the required control functions.
    • Participate in and provide guidance to various steering, working and project control groups addressing project controls.

    Experience and qualifications

    • S
    ubstantial experience in project controls for similar substantial and complex projects, preferably including large airport infrastructure projects
    • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent.
    • Eligibility for professional certification with an associated, recognised industry body
