The Role

A rare and exciting opportunity exists to join our Grain Protection team as a Grain Protection Officer in this permanent, full-time position based out of Koorda. As part of the role, you will be required to service the wider area’s receival sites as well.

The roster is current Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work (voluntary).

There may be the potential for other roster options which will be discussed with applicants during the interview process. Recently renovated donga style accommodation is available if required.

This frontline role plays a major part in the implementation and ongoing monitoring of grain protection and fumigation processes across the area.

Previous experience and license in fumigation and pesticides is preferred but not essential as CBH can provide full training and support to ensure you gain the experience and licenses required to be successful in the role.

As a Grain Protection Officer, you will:

  • Carry out grain fumigations following relevant procedures and ensure fumigation performance meets standards.

  • Assist to maintain the life of phosphine, recognise and respond to possible contaminations from insects, rodents, birds and other external threats to reduce or remove the risk in the area.

  • Undertake weed control programs, the implementation of rodent and feral bird control programs, hygiene checks and associated activities.

  • Assist Grain technology in verifying activities to ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, standards and codes of practices.

  • Assist with Receival Points Operator duties, including receiving, storing and out loading grain, in addition to operating and maintaining storage facilities in an efficient and hygienic manner.

Location – Koorda Region

Situated 230 kilometres north-east of Perth, Koorda is a rich agricultural regional centre boasting many great facilities including a 24/7 gym, tennis club, swimming pool, golf club, and even a drive-in movie theatre!

Koorda is central to the “Wheatbelt Way”, a trail running throughout the northern wheatbelt highlighting 21 unique sites ranging from natural attractions to sites of historic importance.

About You

  • Possess a valid driver’s licence (MR licence advantageous).

  • Hold current fumigation and pesticide licences or be wililng to learn and become fully licensed in all aspects of Grain Protection.

  • Willingness to become an expert in Fumigation including Dangerous Goods Management and Pesticide safety activities.

  • A strong dedication towards prioritising safety.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and build positive working relationships.

  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical.

  • Basic level of computer skills.

  • You must live or be willing to relocate to Koorda or a nearby town.
