Our Finance team partner with every area of our business and ensure commercial thinking feeds into everything we do. By working across every team, we look at how we’re performing and provide useable insights to support strategic business decisions.

About the role

This is a highly visible team that helps drive business decision. You will play a key role in facilitating and delivering the Operational reporting across the business.

With your FPA experience in a retail/FMCG environment, you’ll be responsible for providing narrative and reports of Operational performance, building strong relationships with respective commercial finance teams and play a key role in ongoing monthly reporting submissions for Operations.

What you’ll be doing

  • Have a firm understanding of Ops business performance that enables action-based recommendations to the Leadership Team, Group Planning team, FC, Commercial Finance & Executive Leadership Team

  • Manage, maintain and enhance daily , weekly and monthly ops reporting by;

  • Reporting & commentary is accurate; also being easy to understadn wiht clarity on key drivers

  • Reporting is delivered as per SLA's/ required timelines.

  • Contributing teams feel infomred on reasoning behind requests and communications are clear and easy to understand

  • Audience feels informed and are aware on how to access reporting

  • Build and maintain close working relationships troughout the business in order to gather information from a range of sources

  • Support and coach reporting team including co-ordinating key tasks and training team members

  • General support for the Finance Manager and stand in when required

Good things you’ll need

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, stakeholder management, change management, problem solving and influencing skills

  • Experience preparing documents & presentations for Leadership level audiences

  • Experience planning & managing small projects with minimal supervision

  • Strong experience using financial systems in a commercial environment e.g. Microsoft Office applications (inc. Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI), TM1 & SAP

  • Ability to distil and effectively communicate complex information/problems to a broad range of audience (eg IT & Operators)

  • Strong commercial and analytical skills to support understanding of key performance drivers, and raise recommendations on actions required to improve performance

  • Strong influencing skills, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work across multiple teams all with varying deliverables

  • Understanding of retail dynamics and passion for retail

  • Detail orientation required, and commercial experience preferred

  • Preference on retail finance experience

  • CA/CPA qualified (optional)


Play an important part in ensuring exceptional customer experiences, by helping your local Coles store receive the right products at the right time.

In this role, you’ll make sure our store receives the right stock for our customers, by acting as the checkpoint for our grocery deliveries. With a great eye for detail, you’ll track, check, weigh and count deliveries from our suppliers and then make sure they land in the right department in store.
