About the role

We’re looking for an Automation Engineering Manager to join our brand-new Automated Distribution Centre.

This is an incredible opportunity to be involved in the commissioning of an Australian first European lead technology Automated Distribution Centre (ADC).

Located in Kemps Creek New South Wales, you’ll utilise state of the art facilities to deliver outstanding service level fulfilmentto our stores. Critical to the site’s success are our people who’ll enable day to day operations.

As the Automation Engineering Manager, you will act as a subject matter expert between stakeholders and be accountable for the management of these relationships to enable sustained performance. You will keep safe working practices top of mind while being able to identify risks across all engineering activities at the Automated Distribution Centre.

Primary duties include:

  • Manage the supplier’s performance to ultimately enable the automation assets to achieve sustained optimum performance, both in productivity and safety, across its entire lifecycle.

  • Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect the automation system or business operations (including Loss Elimination, Risk Management and Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM)).

  • Ensure all engineering activities at the ADC conform with Coles policies and objectives utilising best practice engineering methods and providing expert technical guidance to engineering initiatives.

  • Foster and maintain a work environment conducive to operational excellence, continuous improvement and the highest levels of safe working practices.

  • Drive employee engagement and coaching of key team to achieve optimal performance.

About you and your skills

  • The ideal candidate is a team player with strong communication skills that can influence and negotiate great outcomes, particularly with external stakeholders

  • Project Management Experience

  • Continuous Improvement/LEAN six Sigma Training and experience

  • Previous experience in an automated distribution facility or manufacturing environment preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior reliability Engineering role

  • Minimum of 3 years leading a team through change, project management and direct engagement with internal and external customers
