As a Security Solution Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of security solutions in a dynamic environment. Group Technology is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of the bank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.

The Security Architecture and Solutions team protects the group and our customers from theft, losses and risk events, through design security solutions and effective and proactive management of cyber security, privacy and operational risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate the complexity of a system into a manageable model that describes the essence of a system by exposing important details and significant constraints.
  • Progressively make critical decisions that define a specific direction for a system in terms of implementation, operations, and maintenance.
  • Adhere to standards whenever possible - to maximize the future investment value and minimizing costs
  • Work closely with stakeholders to explain the benefits and justify the investment in the design of a solution. This may be done by participating in business process re-engineering activities, by using Cost Benefit Analysis Method, or by measuring the level of component / architecture re-use between projects with the help from the software process improvement team.
  • Creates and distributes tailored views of solution design to appropriate stakeholders, be responsible for identification and presenting a sufficient level of information that stakeholders must be able to understand, evaluate, and reason about system design.
  • Stay on course in line with the long term vision. When project's scope creep attempts to manipulate solution architecture in a certain way in order to satisfy the requirements from multiple stakeholders the Security Solution Engineer must know when to say "NO" to select requests in order to say "YES" to others
  • Focus on actions that produce results early while staying on course for the long term. When project variables outside of one's control change the architect must adjust the strategy given the resource available while maintaining the long term goal.
  • Inspire, mentor, and encourage colleagues to apply intelligently industry's best practices.

We are interested in people who have

  • A core understanding of the theory independent of specific technology or product, or latest patterns and paradigms.
  • A demonstrated experience in developing solution design or engineering is essential, desirable in security technology and products.
  • The ability to review code is important.
  • Experience with a SDLC would be desirable but not essential. This includes requirements management, business problem analysis, build master and deployment, testing, and operations and maintenance.
  • Strong technical design and development skills with the ability to articulate solutions at both a conceptual and detailed level, and leverage solution patterns.
  • Proven software/security engineering skills across a range of technologies.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with an agile approach to solution development.
