The Project

CPB Contractors along with our industry partners has been selected to deliver two major packages for the Cross River Rail Projects: the Tunnel, Stations and Development (TSD) package and the Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS) package . Cross River Rail is a new 10.2 kilometre rail line from Dutton Park to Bowen Hills, which includes 5.9 kilometres of tunnel under the Brisbane River and the CBD.

The RIS package is crucial to the overall delivery and success of Cross River Rail, and its integration with the Queensland Rail network. RIS will be delivered by the UNITY Alliance which brings CPB Contractors, UGL, AECOM and Jacobs together with partners HASSEL, RCS Australia, Acemna, Martinus Rail and WIRED Overhead Solutions to deliver the full scope of works over the next five years. This includes:

  • Rail civil and electrical works
  • Brownfield rail surface works primarily to the north of the tunnel, including an upgrade of Exhibition Station and a major augmentation of Mayne Yard
  • Upgrade of six suburban stations to the south
  • Rail operational systems works
  • Rail signalling works and communication, and integration and commission activities.

Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Project Wide T&C Manager, UNITY Alliance are currently seeking an experienced Testing and Commissioning Manager to support the management of surface T&C works on the project.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and deliver the surface works in terms of T&C requirements for the Cross River Rail (CRR) Project, working alongside the construction team.
  • Support the integrated program for integration/T&C activities to achieve acceptance of the Cross River Rail in terms of the surface works (track, overhead, signaling, station systems, rail yards etc)
  • Liaise, collaborate, and coordinate with the relevant stakeholders (including within Delivery Authority, Suppliers, Queensland Rail and other stakeholders) to ensure the integration/T&C obligations are being performed.
  • Ensure that integration/T&C risks and issues are identified, assessed, communicated and resolved quickly and efficiently. Seek to resolve matters that arise through escalation channels if necessary.
  • Lead the governance and reporting on integration/T&C activities including reporting on the progress and performance of the activities, services, deliverables being performed and advising any updates and risks in relation to the program. Represent UNITY at integration/T&C committees.
  • Prepare T&C management plans/detailed plans and execute them.

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Tertiary Qualification in a related field
  • Proven experience in a similar role - 15 + years experience in integration / test and commissioning experience including trial running and trial operations within a railway environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with applicable systems engineering and assurance standards, familiarisation of rail transport operator safety management system (or equivalent), and experience in a construction railway environment including ‘greenfields’ and ‘brownfields’ environment.
  • Strategic leadership capabilities with sufficient management acumen to balance commercial, technical, and project objectives and constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, lead a team, work independently and adapt to meet sudden changes in expectations, priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully and autonomously within a fast paced project environment and deliver on deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise written and verbal communication and produce clearly articulated briefings and reports.
  • Highly developed relationship management with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
