What will your typical day look like?

This role is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal part in shaping Deloitte’s International Development portfolio. Working closely with colleagues within our International Development Practice, our in-country program teams, and broader Deloitte service areas, you will be central to the delivery and expansion of our regional portfolio. You will bring a strong appetite for challenge and a desire to travel throughout Asia and the Pacific. Experience working on Australian-funded development programs in the region would certainly get our attention.

The location of the position is flexible within Australia, likely Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra or Perth.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery and implementation of development programs, ensuring excellence in delivery with a primary focus on operational, financial and contract management, risk management and mitigation, security and safety and safeguarding.
  • Together with in-country teams, leading the mobilisation of new programs in complex environments.
  • Coordinating the recruitment, mobilisation and management of program personnel, applying program procurement processes.
  • Supporting the production of high-quality program reports, strategy documents and presentations.
  • Reviewing and monitoring financial reports and program cash flows, developing and managing program budgets and facilitating the approval of program related expenditure.
  • Building and maintaining strong and effective working relationships with Deloitte colleagues, key clients, partners and consultants.
  • Contributing to business development pursuits for the International Development Practice.
  • Supporting the Practice’s technical excellence and thought leadership in support of growth across Asia and the Pacific.

You are someone with:

  • Proven skills in program management, financial and operational administration. Experience in the program management of large, multi-year Australian aid initiatives is highly desirable.
  • A relevant degree in management, international development or other related discipline.
  • A client-focused orientation with excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills and the confidence to take difficult decisions.
  • The ability to prioritise, problem solve and drive programs forward.
  • Exemplary stakeholder management skills to influence outcomes and drive collaboration.
  • A commercial mindset and understanding of client expectations and priorities.
  • A collaborative and creative approach to internal engagement and teaming.
  • Outstanding English written and oral communication skills, including in report writing and presenting information and a strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with DFAT policies and procedures and experience in implementing these in various context would be advantageous.
  • Flexibility to travel to various locations throughout the Pacific and Asia.
