Interagency Graduate Program

About the Interagency Graduate Program

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) and the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) have come together to create an award-winning interagency graduate program.

Our 18-month program aims to build the skills, experience and networks required for a successful career in the Western Australian public sector. A customised rotation plan provides our graduates with opportunities to work on state-wide projects and initiatives. Initial employment is on a fixed basis, commencing January 2023, with the provision for permanent appointment following successful completion of the first 12-months.

Hear from our graduates, past and present, about their experience on the graduate program.

About the Graduate Officer – Compliance and Investigations

Do you have a systematic and enquiring mind? Are you looking to use your analytical, comprehension and problem solving skills in your career to undertake investigations and recommend outcomes?

The Consumer Protection Division is seeking a recent graduate with an interest in industry regulation (compliance and investigations) to join the Property Industries Directorate. You will have a bachelor degree in Law, Intelligence Analysis, Investigation or an approved equivalent (degree to be completed in 2021 or later).

Within the Consumer Protection Division, the Property Industries Directorate is responsible for directing a programme of dispute conciliation, proactive compliance and reactive compliance to effectively detect, deter and remedy improper practices relating to property industries regulated by the Consumer Protection Division of the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.

You will use your knowledge and skills in the consideration of matters within the property industry (real estate, tenancy, retirement villages and residential parks). You will also assist in targeted programs, including field visits, to improve industry compliance. In addition, you will have a great work ethic, be able to manage your own time, and contribute to the ongoing development of the team.

This position is located in Perth however you may be required to work at other sites.
