The Downer Waipawa team needs a physically fit and motivated person to join our Transport Services crew to lend a helping hand as a General Worker. You will be involved in the general operation of trucks and machinery and daily manual labouring duties.

About the job:
Your day-to-day will involve fixing potholes, sign maintenance, traffic management, hand shovelling out curbs and general maintenance activities. You’ll work as part of a cohesive team to deliver projects and ensure site safety for the crew and the community.

We offer plenty of development opportunities for our staff who put in the hard yards. We support and encourage training and upskilling, so you’ll be open to learning and growing your skillset. If you enjoy spending your days outdoors and getting involved in practical work, this is the job for you!

This is primarily a Monday – Friday, full-time permanent position based out of our Napier depot and involves occasional weekend and night work.

About you:

Ultimately we are looking for individuals willing to learn, grow and develop themselves within our business. Along with a positive attitude and a commitment to safe workplace practices, we are looking for you to have:

  • A Class 1 – Full New Zealand Drivers Licence
  • The ability to work well within a team and alone when required
  • A can-do attitude with a good work ethic
  • Demonstrated that you are dependable

It also helps if you have the following; however, these are not deal breakers, and training can be provided:

  • Class 2 - 4 Drivers Licences and WTR endorsements
  • Experience operating a variety of civil machinery
