About the opportunity:

The Downer Utilities – New Business & Commercial team has three opportunities for experienced Senior Estimator’s to join their team based in Auckland (locations flexible). These roles will report into our Lead Estimator, joining a direct team of six estimators.

With a strong civil infrastructure opportunity pipeline in sectors such as Telecommunications, Water & Energy, our business is well positioned to continue on this growth trajectory. The successful applicant will be expected to add value to an experienced team with estimating expertise across a range of integrated multidisciplinary construction projects with a value ranging from $10m – $300m+. Our team is predominately estimating for project construction, and long-term operational maintenance contracts also.

Key responsibilities will include liaison with senior management on bid strategy, tender preparation and accurate estimating, client engagement, negotiation and handover, and management of subcontractors and supplier pricing.

Ad-hoc travel may be required for site visits.

About you:

Ideally, you will be an estimator with a minimum of 5 years' experience involved in projects and term maintenance contracts.

We want to hear from you if you have the following attributes:

  • Proven experience in the pricing process within a major contracting environment on infrastructure projects of $10m + value
  • Broad experience across water, energy, renewables & telecommunications sector experience would be advantageous.
  • A high degree of computer literacy including use of estimating software (preferably Candy / CostX or Expert) including advanced MS Excel skills
  • High level of written and verbal communications skills
  • A formal tertiary qualification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a well-developed trade background
