Downer Mineral Technologies (MT) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Sales Engineer (Process Engineer) , with expertise in physical separation processes, such as gravity and magnetic separation, to join our company. As a leading provider of equipment, testing and engineering services to the mining industry, we rely on the technical knowledge of our Senior Process Engineer - BD to drive sales efforts and deliver effective solutions to our mining clients. Your background in separation processes will be invaluable in identifying customer needs, optimizing processes, and ensuring successful project outcomes.


  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to develop sales strategies focused on MT’s physical separation solutions and identify target markets, key accounts, and potential projects to grow the sales pipeline.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with existing and potential clients whilst gaining a deep understanding of the specific needs, challenges and goals of their separation processes.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of physical separation processes, including gravity and magnetic separation processes and act as a technical resource for customers.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and proposals tailored to clients needs.
  • Monitor and analyse sales metrics, market trends and customer feedback to MT’s products and services.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a streamlined sales process.


  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical/Process/Metallurgical engineering
  • Proven experience as a Process Engineer / Metallurgist within the mining industry with exposure to physical separation.
  • Knowledge of physical separation techniques, equipment and process optimization.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey technical information.
  • Customer focused with strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM Software and MS Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to customer sites, conferences, and trade shows.
