We are currently recruiting for multiple Senior Electrical Engineers in Regional NSW. This role can be based at any of Essential Energy’s offices or depots with the flexibility to work from home.

About the role

Whilst providing innovative engineering decisions on our existing electrical network assets you will play a lead role in ensuring Essential Energy keeps up with the pace of change and develops new technologies to modernise our network. You will be providing engineering expertise through the development process from trials to business as usual in areas such as Network and Community Batteries, Microgrids, Stand Alone Power Systems and Network monitoring devices amongst many other new technologies. These engineering roles are pivotal enablers in Essential Energy achieving its corporate objectives of delivering greater network capacity for connections to our network, enabling smart customer and community solutions, and facilitating electric vehicle adoption across our franchise area. You will be responsible for strategic technical evaluations, development and implementation of engineering processes and plans across a wide range of technical functions, including maintenance regimes, asset investigations, quality assurance, commissioning standards, technical specifications, and failure analysis.

About You

You are a qualified electrical engineer with a solid understanding of the electrical utility industry with experience in many of the asset types utilised within an electrical distribution network. You will be passionate about new technologies and what engineering practices can do to make them a long-term solution to modernise our network. You have the confidence to build strong internal and external relationships and are comfortable communicating to a wide range of stakeholders from senior management to engineers and field staff. It’s imperative you are self-motivated, consistently working at a high level in isolation and in a team environment with a thirst to learn. Your enthusiasm will be infectious to those around you.

Required Qualifications/ Skills

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent to satisfy graduate membership to the Institution of Engineers Australia
  • Drivers licence
  • WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate
  • Extensive experience in a similar engineering role in the Energy/Electrical and/or Utilities Industry
  • Knowledge and application of current network engineering philosophies, procedures, and statutory requirements
