Our group operations are based in Sydney CBD providing support across all sites in several key areas including our Discovery team, responsible for our exploration activities across Australia and Canada.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group Manager - Finance, you will be responsible for proactively supporting the Discovery business unit and the East Kundana Joint Venture by delivering quality financial reporting output, whilst ensuring compliance with accounting standards and Evolution’s accounting policies.

You will build relationships and engage with both internal stakeholders of the Discovery business unit, Group Finance, Site Management Team, JV Secretary and external stakeholders with our JV partners to ensure the timely provision and integrity of key reporting data (predominantly financial) and subsequent preparation of reports and data analysis. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • JV Accounts management including, distributing the monthly reporting pack, half-year and full-year audit and reporting, and interaction with external auditors and JV participants.
  • Key contact for JV partners on accounting and financial matters, including on monthly reports and budget updates.
  • Assisting JV Secretary with preparation of Notices of Meeting and Agenda, drafting minutes for JV approval, distribution of material to partners and filing of documentation and reports to satisfy JV requirements.
  • Attend & minute quarterly JV Committee meetings.
  • Manage and assist the Discovery team with monthly accounting matters including reporting of costs and understanding of cost drivers and variances.
  • Provide data and discovery-related financial and management reporting to the Group Finance team to assist with period end management and financial accounts.
  • Develop operational specific processes, practices and procedures for cost control and reporting.

About You

To be successful you will need to demonstrate:

  • Proven ability to prepare, analyse, profile and present data, in a structured and logical format, confident in communicating, sensitive and complex financial information.
  • Tertiary Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a technical discipline and
  • Experience in leading month end process and working in a complex accounting environment
  • Diligence, good communicator, ability to quickly build a rapport to form working relationships, lateral thought, and openness to new approaches.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills with solid communication skills, both written and verbal and be able to manage your energy and priorities.
