  • We support flexible work arrangements;
  • You'll be a part of a fun and inclusive team environment

What's on offer?
We are looking to appoint a Commercial Analyst - Project Reviews to work within our Construction project review team. Reporting to the Finance Manager - Project Reviews and based, ideally, in our Richmond office with flexibility to work either in our Sydney or Brisbane office, the role will have you leading the commercial and financial elements of reviews of our project portfolio across the country. This will involve holding targeted discussions with project teams over key aspects of financial reporting accuracy and contractual compliance, offering opportunities for improvement.

The role will see you playing a role in the conduction of site-based reviews and related preliminary analytics, identifying central discussion points to be raised with project teams, drawing conclusions from those discussions and validating those conclusions with reference to a direct observation of field activities. Your conclusions will in turn support Regional and National Management in delivering tendered projects on time and on budget.

In this role you'll be responsible for:

  • Completing preliminary procedures over key areas of commercial & financial project compliance and risk management in advance of site attendance. These areas include project procurement, cost & forecast management and Head Contract administration;
  • Leading on-site discussions with project teams based on those preliminary procedures and updating findings appropriately;
  • Attending Client interface meetings, querying the extent of project commercial & contractual compliance and documenting responses accordingly;
  • Assisting in compiling an independent valuation of project final forecast income and cost by identifying and estimating the risks & opportunities documented during site attendance;
  • Providing a final assessment of project compliance with mandatory internal procedures geared toward managing commercial & financial risks, justifying the assessment with reference to outcomes documented throughout the review;
  • Assisting in compiling a project review report that accurately summarises key project review findings;
  • Using project review outcomes as an opportunity to enhance business process knowledge and initiate future process improvement;
  • Challenging, modifying & adapting procedures undertaken to suit the unique circumstances of each project under review.

How you'll connect to the role:
From a technical perspective, you will hold tertiary qualifications within Accounting & Finance disciplines, ideally having already completed or still be in the process of completing a CA/CPA qualification. You will also have a high proficiency in Excel usage. While experience in JDE or Oracle software is also desirable, it is not essential. Experience within the construction sector would be highly regarded, as would previous experience in either an internal or external audit function.

What will ultimately set you apart is your drive to continue delivering a standard of exceptionally high quality outcomes and your ability to draw on your excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders and develop strong working relationships.

This is an opportunity to travel at least bi-monthly to different project sites across the country, obtaining a diverse cross-section of exposure to the delivery of major civil construction projects and playing a critical role in analysing and reviewing data to ensure the project review function is conducted effectively and efficiently.

This role is your opportunity for personal growth to facilitate a long-term career in construction finance. There is an opportunity to have your skills developed and enhanced by working closely with a tight knit and experienced team who will guide you and support you in your Fulton Hogan journey.
