Gold Fields is a globally diversified gold producer with nine operating mines in Australia, Peru, South Africa and West Africa (including the Asanko JV), as well as one project in Chile.

Gold Fields' mining assets in the Australia region (GFA) include a 100% interest in the St Ives, Agnew and Granny Smith mines and a 50:50 interest in the Gruyere JV project with Gold Road Resources.

Role Details

Reporting to the Emergency Services and Security Coordinator at Agnew Gold Mine, you will contribute to organisational effectiveness, securing the optimal health & safety of the workforce by delivering First Aid/Pre-Hospital Care for site including the development, delivery and review of systems, training and provision of advice pertaining to area of specialisation.

This role is offered on 8 days on 6 days off, 7 days on 7 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

About the role:

  • Provide professional First Aid / Pre-Hospital care service for site inclusive of business partners, with the medical assessment and appropriate treatment of personnel, whilst consulting with Injury Management on applicable cases on a remote site
  • Achieve shortest possible recovery time for injured/ill personnel by delivering prompt treatment in both first aid and operational areas
  • Demonstrate and maintain a sound level of knowledge and understanding of the underground & surface mining operations, haulage mineral processing and shared use infrastructure to enable strong understanding of the risks associated with known and potential emergency response scenarios and activities at Agnew
  • Provide team leadership during emergencies
  • Training and development of Emergency Service Volunteers by actively devising, preparing, coordinating, monitoring, and reviewing the delivery of ERT skills maintenance training, first aid, and ERT field scenario training
  • Contribute to the delivery of a qualified emergency response service by partaking in training and real-life accident/emergency situations taking direction from delegated personnel
  • Develop external relationships and agreements for mutual aid in an emergency response situation
  • Support in updating and training of Emergency Crisis and Emergency Management processes on site
  • Deliver the site security function by providing support to security personnel when required
  • Actively participate in all medical & ERT activities and any other duties assigned by the Coordinator: ESS

About you:

  • Diploma in Paramedical Science (essential)
  • Certificate III in Mines Rescue or Public Safety (essential)
  • Competence in Closed Circuit Regenerative Breathing Apparatus (essential)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support course (desirable)
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment (desirable)
  • Experience in the delivery of Emergency Response & First Aid Training
  • Current Manual Driver’s Licence
