To help drive quality outcomes for Iress clients and enable engineering teams by providing capabilities focused on the supportability and reliability of Iress software. The role ensures both engineering and operationally focused teams work seamlessly as one combined, end-2-end product engineering team. The role must demonstrate an ability to work with a large global product engineering team supporting a complex mix of software, clients and delivery outcomes. The role requires an ability to work with a diverse range of internal and external technical & engineering teams, to ensure a highly reliable, automated product engineering & operational capability exists.

Some of the awesome things you’ll be involved with:

  • Experience in gathering and analysing user data requirements and designing of solutions to meet the specifications.

  • Detailed understanding of data warehousing, ETL and data lake concepts

  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques

  • Work closely with engineering teams to solve data problems

  • Proficient in coding, relational and nosql databases, automation and data pipelines

  • Leads and drives data oriented problems while along with data scientists

  • Ensures data and code qualities are maintained at all times.

  • Sets the standards of best practices such as reusable design patterns, streaming over batch, idempotency, etc.

What you will bring:

  • Previous experience as a senior data engineer comprising of the below or similar technical capabilities:

    • Proficient in at least one of the programming languages preferably Python

    • Working experience in cloud data warehouses such as Redshift/ BigQuery or teradata or similar

    • Experience in Spark and big data workloads and processing using Snowflake / Databricks/ similar tool

    • Experience in DBT or similar composer tools.

    • Hands-on with Apache Airflow

    • Expertise in sql data management, modelling, performance tuning,query optimization, etc.

    • CI/CD processes and tools such as BuildKite, Jenkins, Azure DevOps or any other similar tool

    • Knowledge on Devops toolsets for data API building and cloud services such as AWS Lambda / Google functions, etc.

  • Knowledge about ML models, AWS data tools such as Athena, Glue, Sagemaker, etc are add-ons

  • Is a modern thinker, looks to the future while ensuring practical, commercial outcomes are achieved in the present - but does not aim to keep the status quo

  • Communicates positively and confidently at all times, internally and externally relevant, valuable information

  • Is a motivator, leads by example and can be respected by the broad range of technologists at Iress

  • Capable of contributing to broader business conversations beyond operational engineering and technology

  • Solicits the involvement of others to build a sense of ownership and engagement. Must have the confidence to act quickly and decisively.

  • Is able to define a delivery plan and identify & propose any supporting budget

  • Can effectively lead and engage with remote teams

  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and collaborate with other functional leaders to provide great outcomes.
