The Security Architect is key in driving Iress thought leadership and security engineering practices and standards, this role supports the global delivery of secure capabilities through a combination of coaching, hands-on engineering and collaboration with engineers and delivery leads.
This role supports the definition and application of an Iress Global Platform Strategy and security capability that aligns with and contributes to Iress’ Business and Technology Strategy. Working across a number of globally distributed teams, this role will help align the teams to deliver a highly secure platform built on a strong foundation of hybrid cloud/hosted infrastructure. This role is expected to provide internal consultingto coach, influence and drive the on-boarding of our security capabilities.

Formulate, drive and evangelise a strategic vision for security within Iress with a strong focus on enabling speed, scale and quality through Iress engineering delivery teams
Work as part of a Information Security group to define and deliver security services that effectively operate within a cloud environment and the hosted Iress environment
Drive Iress-wide thought leadership for security engineering and architectural practices and standards with a focus on platform technology and services
Lead and drive security automation throughout infrastructure and platform engineering roles to remove “hands-on” work, driving an effective efficiency outcome
Ensure that security services provide value to delivery teams, enabling speed and scale globally
Ensure existing clients and solutions continue to operate securely
Identifiy, articulate and manage implications and risks of technology solutions and decisions
Work with key stakeholders to align Iress products/solutions and Iress security capabilities in an evolutionary, incremental and iterative manner
Deliver a global alignment of security technology across Iress
Take a role as a technology and business leader in Iress and ensures Iress progresses as a result of activities, including those outside the security function
What you will bring:
Experience with securing applications specifically for AWS Cloud hosting environments.
Understands business and external environment, is cost conscious and understands the longer term perspective and implications of decisions.
Strong interpersonal skills are a must, as is the ability to work autonomously yet still form part of a team and be willing to share ideas and knowledge
Ability to instill confidence with current and prospective clients regarding Iress’ stance on Information Security.
Extensive experience in information security management and/or related functions (such as information security solution design or architecture, IT audit, IT Risk Management)
Experience of Security Architecture principles and standards (eg CIS; CAF; COBIT; TOGAF)
Detailed knowledge of modern software technology including DevOps methodologies, cloud services, consumer trends in technology and engineering principles and practices - leads, drives and ensures team automates through the implementation of solutions “as-code”
Experience with modern application packaging, deployment, containerization, bug tracking tools and other supporting tools (Buildkite,, Docker, Kubernetes, Jira, etc.)
Experience with modern source code management and software repository systems (Git/GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.)
Experience in implementing and/or managing an ISO/IEC 27001 certified Information Security Management System in a financial services organisation or software development business similar to Iress
Industry recognized certification in security (e.g., CISSP, CSSLP)
