Currently we have an opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will work across our multiple global businesses and provide proactive legal advice to stakeholders on a range of issues including data, privacy, spam/fraud prevention, supplier, and customer contracts.

Partnering with stakeholders across all areas of our business, including technology, product, security, finance, sales, and marketing, you will play a pivotal role in how our legal team support our businesses.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Legal on strategic projects and mentor, support junior members of the team
  • Support our sales, marketing, and operations teams to deliver exceptional customer services through contract negotiation, drafting and advice
  • Partner with our product team on new and ongoing product development and maintenance
  • Support the technology and security teams on data privacy projects and compliance matters
  • Assist in the preparing and delivery of training, implementing global compliance programs to promote understanding of legal rights and obligations – Being a champion of compliance
  • Review and advise on a wider range of contracts, including procurement, services agreements, software licenses and other contractual arrangements and non-routine transactions
  • Provide legal advice and recommendations that are pragmatic, commercial, timely and cost effective
  • Identify efficiencies and process improvements in the way we deliver legal services to the business.
  • Work with external legal advisers to ensure efficient and effective provision of legal services

The preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience.

  • Admitted as a Lawyer in Australia and holding an unrestricted practicing certificate
  • At least 8 years of experience as a practising lawyer in a law firm and or in-house corporate setting
  • Experience advising on customer and supplier contracts, privacy law (including the Australian and New Zealand Privacy Acts, GDPR and CCPA), intellectual property, spam law and aspects of telecommunications law
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to work on a range of legal matters with various stakeholders throughout the business
  • A practical commercial and business partner mindset with strong communication and stakeholder/project management experience
  • Refined time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing obligations
  • A strategic approach to problem solving
  • Experience working with a Tech/SaaS/Telco clients/business would be highly preferred
