We are currently looking for a Senior Project Engineer support the ICT/OCS team within Melbourne Airport Rail - Sunshine Systems Alliance (SSA) Project team in Metro Trains is responsible for delivering the control system technology role out to support trains to the Airport by 2029.

This Role is responsible for overseeing new installations and modifications to Operational (OCMS) systems and their interface into both conventional and Computer Based Train Control - CBTC Systems across MTM, V/Line and ARTC.

This role will support the delivery of what will be one of the most iconic projects in Melbourne, the highly anticipated Melbourne Airport Rail (MAR) Project!

This role will work between the CBD offices and our new offices in Sunshine

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Leading the successful handover to operations of the Train Control, SCADA, Communications and other platforms being delivered by MAR SSA – these systems impacted by SSA include 3 ARO’s of MTM, V/Line and ARTC
  • Engaging with the relevant SMEs to ensure specifications, scopes of work and for Operational Technologies are sufficiently detailed and capture requirements of interfacing sub-systems and system providers (UGL, Siemens, Hitachi, HCMT, Nokia Siemens)
  • Producing, implementing and ensuring standardised systems, tools and processes are implemented to manage scope and risk of bringing these assets into service during the life of the SSA project
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal (MTM, V/Line and ARTC) inter-teams to support delivery that is aligned with the SSA PS&TR and Staging strategy.
  • Working with design team to ensure technical inputs and design integration with other disciplines are in line with the project Scope and Technical requirements (PS&TR) ensuring that a current drawing register is maintained, and that the documentation is issued to all the relevant parties
  • Assisting the Project Manager with the preparation of scope documentation for specific activities/works and progress the engagement of the contractor/supplier, including tendering, evaluation and contract awarded.
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder management through positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key stakeholders informed.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in a Computing or Engineering Discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical)
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in multi-disciplinary engineering projects including all aspects of the project life cycle including - design, procurement, installation/developing, commissioning and handover.
  • Experience in Operational Technology(OT)/ Control Systems/ Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems/ Production and operations information systems or equivalent
  • Experience in CBTC, Train Control/ATS, Radio Communications and Surveillance & CCTV would be highly regarded.
  • Experience working in alliance format delivery preferred
  • Ability to schedule work priorities to ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to whilst managing complex situations, having solid problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally & written will all levels of stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to write reports and manage time effectively.
