About the team:

You will join us in the Instalments sub-domain of Personal Everyday Banking. The team provides our Colleagues and Customers with simple digital experiences across various products and customer journeys including NAB Now Pay Later.

You will have experience as a technical leader or engineering manager who is highly motivated to serve and support your team. You have proven experience in iteratively scoping, planning, estimating, developing, tracking, releasing and running applications that are used by our customers and colleagues every day.


  • Oversight of one or more engineering scrum teams, carrying out People Leader fundamentals and inspiring a learning-based culture
  • Shielding your team to minimise distractions and allow them to focus on the things that matter most
  • Ensuring adherence to engineering standards, code quality, development guardrails, testing etc.
  • Act as technical product owner to drive technical enablement, operation and continuous improvement of services
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders as the representative of your team’s delivery, technology, architecture and resourcing
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Domain, ensure continuous and efficient delivery of value with a steady flow of work in a healthy backlog
  • Proactively contribute and maintain a desired risk culture across the team that includes speaking up promptly when you identify an issue or have a concern
  • Maintain software and infrastructure currency, capacity and performance. Conduct back-up / DR tests and other related governance and attestations.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Strong passion to build and support highly collaborative and high performing teams
  • Proven experience in recruiting, empowering and mentoring software engineers
  • Career as a developer with proven experience as Tech Lead
  • Full stack experience working with automation, security and monitoring and alerting tooling
  • Deep understanding of Micro-Service and Mini-app technologies including designing / architecting in complex environments (Java based: Spring Boot, Node.JS and React based: React Native, GraphQL, NUIT)
  • Extensive cloud experience (AWS certification preferred) with Container (Docker) and Database (Postgres) knowledge
  • A CI/CD mindset with experience across a range of DevOps and automation tools (GitHub, SonarQube, Jenkins, Artifactory, Checkmarx, Prisma and SonaType )
  • Ability to self-manage and take full ownership of software quality and deliverables
  • Significant experience in shaping, prioritising and delivering solutions iteratively
  • Ability to provide direction, clarity and focus to the team while defining, aligning and implementing technical strategies
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills
