Who we are looking for

Reporting to the Manager - Group Accounting, you will work closely with internal stakeholders including site commercial teams and external auditors in preparation of the Group’s annual and monthly financial reports and accounting records and ensure Newcrest is compliant with regulatory and statutory requirements. You will also provide accounting expertise to Business development activities and special projects across the group.

Key strengths are required in tax effect accounting, where you will work closely with Group Tax and fixed assets, where you will provide advice, guidance and reviews on capital and fixed asset processes across group.

This role with have 2 direct reports and spans all Newcrest Operations, Functions, Exploration and Joint Venture interests globally.

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Commerce with a minimum 10 years work experience in a related role
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and application.
  • Completed professional accounting qualification (CA/CPA or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of corporate income tax and tax effect accounting
  • Excellent knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral with a proven ability to influence stakeholders
  • Ability to contribute at all levels of the organisation
  • Highly tuned problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to independently research accounting issues
  • Strong commercial sense
  • Strong knowledge and experience in developing and executing financial governance, policy/standards
  • Able to accept responsibility, take ownership of work and use initiative
