Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off

How You Will Create Impact

  • Continually improve the performance and capability of the Carrapateena fixed plant equipment, through application of engineering disciplines and reliable decision making. This includes effective delivery of Engineering capital projects, reliability activities, and tasks.
  • Manage condition monitoring and non-destructive testing activities
  • Undertake key reliability improvement projects to actively pursue plant optimisation, this includes troubleshooting, OEM interactions, failure analysis and reporting and development of equipment strategies
  • Be proactively involved in RCA activities
  • Ensure any engineering design is safe, effective, and reliable for the business needs.
  • Collaborate with team members of multiple technical disciplines to provide engineering support for improving equipment performance, capability and reduce life cycle costs.
  • Work within the Asset Strategy and Maintenance Execution teams in their “ownership” of plant functional areas. Collaboration within the team to harness the multi-discipline skills available. Skill and knowledge sharing are paramount for success.
  • Deliver improvement opportunities to achieve expected benefits (safety, cost, throughput, or quality).
  • Management and coordination of external service providers or consultants where required.
  • Promote the following of standard department business processes and communicate these effectively.
  • Ensure all work is planned and scheduled to agreed levels of efficiency and well communicated to key stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement activities. Ensure opportunities have been evaluated and prioritised before executing the improvement project.
  • Seek opportunities to improve current tools, practices, and processes.
  • Ensure improvements are implemented in a safe, effective, and financially responsible manner.
  • Many improvements will require engineering design, construction contract and project management, commercial negotiation with consultants and contractors (of varying values).
  • Ensure these projects are safely executed, offering maximum value to OZ Minerals by being appropriately resourced in terms of effort and technical capability.

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential
  • Postgraduate Studies - Asset/Reliability/Maintenance Management highly regarded
  • Experience working in mining and resource industry
  • Maintenance and Works Management Experience
  • Experience using SAP or similar
  • Application of RCM Principles and FMECA facilitation
  • Process and document writing (and associated systems)
  • Reporting and analytical skills (and associated systems)
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver asset strategies
  • High level computer skills in Microsoft suite
  • An understanding of different condition monitoring systems (Lubrication, Thermography, Vibration Analysis)
  • An understanding of different non-destructive methods (including were and when to apply them).
