West Musgrave will be a large scale world class mine built and operated by world class people. We are completing the final study phase so that we can build a modern mine site in Western Australia. About The Role

Location: Site Based

Roster: 2:1 FIFO roster

Reporting to: Project Director – West Musgrave

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract

The Details

Your role as the Manager – Health, Safety & Environment is to take the lead and planning on the health, safety and environment to safely deliver the West Musgrave project.

The West Musgrave Project is a new and exciting project for OZ Minerals where success will be achieved through clear communication and collaboration. Key Responsibilities

  • To guide and mentor the management team in achieving legislative compliance, relating to HST in the mining industry.
  • The position must use initiative and influence to facilitate the design and implementation of the HST system from a risk-based perspective and ensure that contractors (who are the major number of personnel on site) systems comply.
  • Establishing and implementing safe working practices and procedures
  • Ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements in respect of mine planning activities are met
  • Lead a high performing multi-disciplinary team to enable leading practice health, safety and environment management performance.
  • Ensure required permits and licences are identified and obtained within the timeframe required by the project and mining schedule.
  • Develop the site’s standards and procedures in HSE.

Applicant Requirements

  • Qualified in Health Safety and Environment with a Cert IV in Training and Assessment
  • Extensive experience working in Health, Safety and Environment
  • Experience in negotiation of agreements with regulatory authorities and community stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience working on remote FIFO area mining projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of Safety and Environment Standards/Systems utilised within the mining industry
  • Emergency and medical services management experience
  • Strong understanding of Western Australian Work Health and Safety legislation
  • Understanding of AIIMS-ICS and site safety management systems.
  • A communicator with solid experience in promoting and strengthening the organisation's culture.
  • An honest and trustworthy professional, capable of delivering difficult messages during times of change.
  • Ability to impact and install a genuine We Care culture in the safety space.
  • Ability to influence and mentor at all levels and develop partnering relationships.
