West Musgrave will be one of the world’s largest, lowest cost, lowest emissions copper-nickel projects, built and operated by OZ Minerals, a modern mining company.

Our West Musgrave nickel-copper project is located on Ngaanyatjarra country, in the Musgrave Province of Central Western Australia, and includes the Nebo and Babel nickel-copper deposits and the Succoth copper deposit.

West Musgrave, which has a 26-year mine life, will be an owner-operator mining operation and in addition to being powered by ~80 per cent renewable energy, the Project scope includes a pathway to net zero Scope 1 emissions by 2038.

The Project will feature an Autonomous Haulage System and remote operations from day one and our workforce will be a flexible, technology enabled team supported by remote operations to improve safety outcomes and maximise opportunities for flexible working and diverse participation.

About the Role

Location: Flexible with travel to Adelaide, Perth and West Musgrave Site as required

Roster: Initially 5:2 (design) then FIFO 14:7

Reporting to: Package Manager – Site Infrastructure

Contract Type: Fixed-term for the duration of the construction phase (circa 3 years)

The Details

Reporting to the Package Manager – Site Infrastructure, you will assist in the development and delivery of the Site Infrastructure package for the West Musgrave Project. This package includes the Aerodrome, Northern Access Road, Internal Roads and Drainage, Northern Borefield and Tailings Storage Facility.

Safety is at the forefront of your day-to-day delivery. You are a safety leader, setting the benchmark for others to follow.

Your role will interface with external design consultants and construction contractors as the various packages of work transition from detailed design to execution. Your time will be allocated between OZ Minerals and consultant offices to support the detailed design phase.

During the project's execution phase, you will be site-based to assist in resolving technical queries, confirming works to specification and effectively collaborating with key on-site teams toward the successful delivery of the construction and commissioning of the Site Infrastructure.

Expect a level of autonomy and empowerment. A relentless focus on safe, timely and cost-effective delivery is your measure of success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Site Infrastructure package, including design basis, engineering standards, detail design, cost estimates and commercial aspects.
  • Review of technical documentation.
  • Identify risks, threats, and opportunities throughout the design and execution processes.
  • Contribute to package reporting requirements.
  • Provide effective resolution of queries and issues as they arise from contract partners and other stakeholders
  • Participate and lead efficient meetings including tracking of issues and actions to closure.
  • Collaborate with other work packages to ensure alignment on interfaces and schedule requirements.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, encouraging open and honest communication.
  • Support the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment

Applicant Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in engineering design development, including interpretation of standards and drawings.
  • Adelaide-based or Perth-based candidate (or willingness to relocate) preferred but not essential.
  • A team player with the ability to influence at all levels and develop effective partnerships
  • An effective communicator, who engages with all stakeholders and understands the importance of being clear and unambiguous in communication
  • Good organisational skills and undertakes tasks with diligence and attention to the necessary detail
  • Problem solving skills with an ability to seek information and advice to resolve issues as they arise
  • Willingness to work at a remote site during construction phase of project.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with clients and/or contractors toward shared outcomes.
  • Committed to working safely & being a safety leader.
  • Civil Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
